brand & web design
Enhance the Investable Oceans investment website
I was contracted by Investable Oceans as the sole designer to finesse their branding, and improve the UX and UI of their site.
CHALLENGE
How might we improve the brand, UX, and UI to reflect the beauty of the ocean and represent the rich content and investment opportunities available
Our oceans face serious challenges but also anchor a multi-trillion dollar economy that continues to grow — providing the air we breathe, the food we eat, and inspiring our travel and recreation. Investable Ocean’s mission is to simplify and accelerate market-based sustainable ocean investing across all asset classes and all sectors of the Blue Economy by centralizing research, commentary, inspiration, and access to blue enterprise in one place. They wanted a user-friendly custom design that reflected the beauty of the ocean to replace the out-of-the-box Shopify layouts.
I worked closely with the CTO to update the UX and site navigation. We organized the rich content, and I created layouts for the various landing pages throughout, using micro interactions to breathe life into the site.
I expanded on the brand identity and created a design system for the web pages, components, and interactions. I created styling for the various Shopify elements, such as filter lists, carousels and overlays.
I also designed and provided assets for email newsletters, social media assets, business cards, and other print pieces.
LEARNINGS
Investing in the future of the ocean
My combined loves of the ocean, conservation and innovation made this project a joy to work on. The visual imagery used throughout the site is a designer’s dream content. When I’m not organizing content and solving problems or designing websites, I’m passionate about scuba diving, photography, videography, and exploring wild places. I strongly believe the investment mission of this site is of great importance to the future of the oceans and all life on earth and hope the site will inspire others. Constraining our designs to function within the Shopify platform was the only challenging aspect of this project and that was minimal.
